Sammy went to Girls Camp

Sammy went to the doctors yesterday. The doctor told me he looks very healthy. He weighs 16 lbs. 13 oz. and he is 27 inches tall. He is in the 80% for weight and 95% for height! Wowee, what a big boy. He had to get shots and then I took him up to girls camp. I know he felt miserable because of the shots, but he still had a great big smile for mommy. :o) He was a big hit at camp. All of the girls stopped to look at him and smile. What else could a boy wish for?

There is beauty all around when there's love at home.

So we made an offer on a house yesterday. They counter offered us last night, and we accepted! Yeah, as long as nothing comes up in inspections and all those tests and things they check for, we will have a house when we move. Yippee! Here are some pictures of the basement in the house that I didn't get posted yesterday. I think this is my favorite part of the house. I love big basement family rooms, maybe because we always had one growing up. The basement also has a wet bar (pictured above right). While we were house hunting I learned that the difference between a wet bar and a dry bar is that a wet bar has a sink. The realtor laughed at us for not knowing this little tidbit of information. Oh well. We will probably use the wet bar for crafts (paints, crayons, markers, glue... etc). It is also big enough to add a couple of bedrooms if the need ever arose (the basement, not the wet bar). Anyway, these are the pictures of our new house.

Be it ever so humble...

Here are some pictures of the living room, kitchen, and dining room in the house we want to buy. We called this house the artsy-fartsy house when we were looking at houses because the people living there have everything painted really... well artsy-fartsy. The living room is orange and yellow, the dining room is green, the bedrooms are painted so bright that I think if we tried to sleep in them they would keep us awake. That is one of the first things that is going to have to change (no offense to the people who own it now). I think we are going to remodel the kitchen too. We want new cabinets and appliances and stuff...

There's no place like home...

My mother and I went to find a house for my family. It was really beautiful and green there. And the crazy thing about it is that no one there has to water their gardens or anything. I think we found a house for us to live in though (cross our fingers that everything goes well). It is about a block and a half from the elementary school that Gracie will go to in a few years. Happy Father's Day!

"I'm so glad when Daddy comes home, glad as I can be. Clap my hands and shout for joy and climb upon his knee. Put my arms around his neck. Hug him tight like this. Pat his cheeks and give him what? A great big kiss!" So I have been working with Gracie to perfect the actions to this song. She is so cute when she does it. She has done it for me three times today, but as soon as I call David in to listen to it, Gracie gets shy and won't do all of the actions. Anyway, one of the things David wanted for Father's Day was a nap. So here he is sleeping. What a cutie! Happy Father's Day to all the great Dads in our lives: David (of course), my own Dad (I love you Daddy), and David's Dad (we love you too!). Where would we be without these great men? We really appreciate all you do and love you with all of our hearts.

Here are some pictures of the inside of our house, which by the way is already under contract. One of the couples that came to see our house the very first day it was on the market made an offer on it. Actually we had three different offers that day, and we accepted the best one. We had the house inspected on Friday. I had David running around and working hard trying to get the house ready for the inspector to come. We were both pretty stressed (me more than David). But we passed! Even with the birds in the roof. David went up in the roof to fix the pipe that goes to the cooler and found a nest with baby birds in it. He wanted to take the nest out and put it in the yard somewhere, but I was afraid the babies would die. I told him to leave them there until the inspector told us we had to move it, but he never did (at least not yet). Anyway, my mom and I are going on Wednesday to look for a house (David couldn't get work off). We have been talking to a realtor out there and she has been sending us lots of pictures. We can't decide if we want to be close to the lake, or closer to the school, or if a pool is a good or bad feature (you know because of little kids), but we are still excited to go and see everything. As soon as I find our new house I will put some pictures up.

Playing with the Thompsons

This is Gracie and her friend Jared. Gracie loves to play with Jared. He is only 5 days older than her, and she is really going to miss him when we have to move.

Graice also likes to play with her stuffed animals. This bunny had to ride in the stroller when we walked over to Jared's house. At one point when I wasn't paying attention the bunny actually played in the water with Gracie.

Gracie and Jared decided they had had enough playing in the sprinklers so they tried to escape!

Sammy has a new girlfriend! Haley is Jared's little sister and she is so pretty...Sammy just couldn't help but fall in love!

So this is all happening really really REALLY fast! Apparently people really want our house. We have had 3 offers (like on paper, real offers) and several other people who "know" people who want our house and it has only been on the market for 1 day. Anyway, here is the MLS listing. Good morning Mary-sunshine what makes you wake so soon? You used to wake at nine o'clock and now it's nearly noon!

LeAnn and Reeve and their kids came to visit us for part of their family vacation this last week. We took the kids to the zoo and they had a really fun time. They ran from one animal to the next and I think it wore them out (us too). We tried to have a party afterwards. We got pizza and treats and watched the first Harry Potter movie, but out of 4 adults and 5 kids, Tolman was the only one who watched the movie the whole way through! The rest of us fell asleep. LeAnn told me that he did the same thing the night before watching Star Wars in their hotel room. What a funny boy he is!

Sammy Sosa

So I worry about knowing how to raise a son. I have 4 sisters and only one brother who is a lot younger than me (he made the baseball bat Sammy is munching on in shop by the way). I don't like sports of any kind (probably because I am really REALLY uncoordinated) and I think all of those icky things that boys like are well... icky. David doesn't really like sports either (he is more coordinated then I am though). We don't play sports, we don't watch sports (although when I was in St. George last summer I went to one of my brothers baseball games), but I want my son to be... you know a real boy. I guess this is where I will have to stretch and grow myself. He is so big already, he could tackle all the other babies in baby football. Do they have a book called Sports for Dummies. Maybe if I get that I can start to learn some of the stuff I will need to know so someday when Sammy is six-foot-two with eyes of blue he can play basketball for BYU!
